Sabbath Sunday - March 30
This quarter's discipleship emphasis is Spending Time With God. So, on our Sabbath Sunday, March 30, we're hitting pause, encouraging you to gather up a small group of people including family and/or friends, and providing an opportunity to spend time with God through our Full Bloom Grow with God Experience. The Easter season is the perfect time for us to pause and take a moment to reflect on what Jesus has done and how it impacts our lives. No matter where we are on our spiritual journeys, this activity is designed to help us discover something new about God. Throughout your "garden," in The Grow with God Experience, you can experience how meaningful and helpful it can be to spend time with God. We'll walk through the Easter story and practice a few spiritual habits along the way to help encourage our growth. Finding Our Place In The Movement
Church planting is at the heart of the Evangelical Covenant Church and Engage's calling as a movement. Every church has a role to play. Churches across the ECC have been invited to identify themselves in one or more of three categories:
At Engage, we are a church plant, but we desire to be a planting and partner church, too. As a new church plant forms in Manhattan, Kansas – Manhattan Covenant Church – Pastor Lexi has had the privilege of working alongside the planters Sam Creager and Amanda Brahn in her role as Director of Church Planting for the Midwest Conference and Engager Claire McClun is serving as their church planting coach. Here's a little about MCC: Since connecting through the Covenant in early 2024, we (Sam, Amanda and our families) have teamed up to launch a new church in Manhattan, Kansas! We both saw a need for a church that embodies the values of the ECC and felt called to be the ones to plant it. We’ve spent the past year building relationships, discerning our vision and mission, and shaping our church’s core values. As we move forward, we are forming a committed Launch Team and preparing for preview services in summer 2025. Join us in prayer and partnership at mhkcovenant.org!
We'd love to be able to bless MCC as a partner church. We've set up a fund dedicated to MCC. You can find in through our giving site by selecting Manhattan KS Church Plant. The Langs have committed $25 per month. Would you join us in a monthly or one-time gift of any amount to help launch this new plant? We'll have opportunities to hear from Sam and Amanda soon and we'll keep you posted on the church's progress. If you know anyone who lives in or near Manhattan, please help us spread the word about MCC. We'd also invite you to be praying for Sam and Amanda and other planters. Starting new churches requires deep dependence on the Holy Spirit. As Paul wrote, "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow" (1 Corinthians 3:6). As you pray, ask God to:
Your prayers make a difference! Will you join us in asking God to grow his Church? You can join the Midwest Conference Church Planting Prayer Team to receive monthly messages with prayer requests from our church plants and about planting opportunities across the Midwest Conference (Kansas, western Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming) by emailing lexi@midwestcovenant.org. What better way to celebrate Holy Week than by witnessing the power of transformation and redemption through art? Just as Holy Week reminds us of renewal and restoration, this show highlights the beauty of new beginnings and personal growth in our students' lives. Come and be encouraged by their work! |
